One of the key learnings I’ve gained while working with customers successfully deploy C-Factor is that documentation is an essential part of gamification implementation. It’s what makes the implementation successful. Well, through good documentation they’ll also have a deeper and clearer understanding of what’s going on with their C-Factor implementation and how they can really reap benefits from it.
Now if you’re really looking to extract the most of your gamification implementation you can start the documentation process immediately. Here’s how:
Aside from the Obvious
Forget the obvious queries and analysis that you learned about when you started using your gamification platform for a second. While you were toying around with the platform you surely had a eureka moment. That’s precisely what you should be documenting. It’s everything that’s not part of the normal use of the platform. Document those queries with examples and explanations so that those who follow or succeed you will be able to really extract all that the platform has to offer.
Basic Troubleshoots
Using a new platform or software can have several hits and misses. You’ll be learning on the fly and running into many bumps and bugs. That’s all fine, as long as you’re able to troubleshoot your way out of it. That’s why by documenting these troubleshoots you’ll save other users from much agony. Of course, they’ll be thankful for your efforts and you too will benefit from it, if you encounter a repeat bug.
Track Changes
Nothing is set in stone, particularly when you’re dealing with a software/platform. You’ll be making tweaks and changes all the time, especially when you’re implementing a new system. These are the perfect types of situations you should be documenting. This way you’ll know where, why and what changes you made.
Customizations
Every gamification implementation is specific and customized to the customer’s needs and requirements. When we implement C-Factor we’re remodeling the platform to address our customer’s specific needs. However, with time and use, the platform undergoes further customizations that you make to it. These changes will further address your strategies and also need to be documented as overtime the platform won’t look and feel like it was when it was first deployed. By doing this, the company that deployed your gamification platform will easily be able to walk through the changes you’ve made.
While at The Talent Games we’re always ready to support and guide our customers to have an exceptional gamification experience, there are always other ways to run the platform smoothly. Documentation is essential to a successful, long beneficial gamification implementation. And it’s easy to do. The more detailed documentation you keep on your gamification implementation the easier it is for you and others to understand and work the platform. All this makes the experience much more rewarding, fun and highly productive!
