Paul’s drive for exploring exciting environments started at a very early age, with a bike trip across Netherlands at 14, a drive between Netherlands and Cape Town, South Africa in 1994, then moving to China in 1997, Vietnam in 1999 and finally Pakistan in 2002.
He firmly believes that everything is possible in the Frontier Markets. There’s less red-tape, things can happen faster and opportunities open up simply by knowing the right people. Paul knows how to navigate the choppy but beautiful waters of frontier markets and helps others do the same. Paul has a bold HR vision: he’s a firm believer that outstanding results can only be achieved through people – by engaging people and teams, building commitment by creating a new paradigm between companies and employees to deliver extraordinary results year-after-year. Because of this belief, he has a strong track record in transforming businesses towards progressive growth paths. He gets results delivered in dynamic and competitive Asian frontier markets by combining strong business with people insights. Prior to founding Engage Consulting, Paul operated for 18 years in the fast moving consumer goods company ‘Unilever’. He has held positions in the Netherlands and the UK and spent 13 years in Asia in senior HR positions of Unilever operations in China, Vietnam and Pakistan.
