I love technology. Be it social media, apps or software I’m of the generation where I don’t take it for granted. It wasn’t always there for me and I’ve seen the world grow and progress beyond what most of us thought possbile in a very short amount of time. Of course the same is true for HR. As an industry, the role of big data has taken many of the larger companies by storm and many companies like Google no longer make decisions on gut feeling. Everything is backed by numbers and information. And though smaller companies may feel like it’s all way beyond their affordability, I’m going to tell you about 3 free HR Apps that you should be using for your HR.
Orange HRM
It doesn’t matter whether you’re a “big” or “small” organization, your HR should be automated. I know many people who run a functioning system using nothing but MS Office and smart integration of Excel and Word. That said, why work with a makeshift system when you can use a free HR MIS like Orange HRM available? It does all the basics like payroll management, employee data management and many more. There’s the free option and paid enterprise version. And it’s all open source so if you have developers you can customize it to your heart’s content.
HR Management – HR News and Information
If you don’t have the time or the team to keep a pulse check on the HR world through social meida, you really need to donwload this app. Kind of the “BBC News” for HR, it aggregates HR News, blogs, white papers, videos, and is constantly being developed. It covers every important function of HR and, for those of us who always have time for everything except educating ourselves, can keep us in the know-how.
Expense on Demand
Okay, I must admit, for the sake of simplicity I love this one. It uses a browser to keep track of managing and tracking employee expenses. It really is a great option for small companies that are trying to straighten out their expense tracking system. All employees have to do is take a picture of the receipts using their smart phone and attach it to the expense item. It automates the entire process and keeps track of whose spending what.
One HR MIS, one news aggregator and one expense tracker. The fact that these three HR Apps are all free show that there’s something for everyone even if you’re not willing to spend anything.
